*This post is all about Stardew Valley*
Before I had a Switch, I would play games on my phone. My favorite games were always based around managing little cafes and restaurants or farming games.
So I wanted to find these same games for my Switch. Especially cute little farming games.
That is when I heard about Stardew Valley. It was something my sister was playing but I never played it myself.
But I can easily say it has become one of my favorite games.
So what is Stardew Valley?
Stardew Valley is a cozy farming game.
After learning you inherited your grandfather’s farm, you move to Stardew Valley. You arrive with a few basic tools and some coins to start managing the overrun farm.
Your days are spent learning to live off the land. Over time you develop skills in farming, foregoing, fishing, and more.
You pretty much run the Stardew Town.
Managing the farm is only one part of the game.
The town itself is also struggling and the mayor asks you for help. A corporation has moved in and is threatening to take over the small town.
Start by restoring the old community center that everyone loves. This will then start to unlock more tasks to help restore the old town.
You also build relationships with the townspeople. Eventually, you can get married and start a family with one of the single characters. They will also ask you for help completing tasks, which can improve relationships.
Along the way, you will also find lost artifacts and books to donate to the old library.
There are many things to be done to restore the old town.
There are several events to attend.
Enjoy the town even more with community events. During these events, you can participate in special challenges, talk to everyone, or purchase unique items you can’t get normally.
There is also mining & Combat.
I know, it’s a cozy game so why is there combat?
To upgrade your tools or other items, you will need resources. And some of these resources are found in the mines. The deeper you go into the mines, the harder the monsters can get.
But don’t be worried. If you are not into combating monsters, look for good luck days to ensure you see only a handful.
You unlock new areas.
There are so many areas to unlock as you move through the game. Over time you can go to nearby deserts and islands. These places provide more game content and items to unlock.
The community center is just the start of the places you will travel to.
There are many hidden secrets and easter eggs.
The game developer loves to hide easter eggs in the game. There are so many easter eggs that there are rumors some still haven’t been found.
This adds a little bit of excitement and added things to look for.
There are many cutscenes.
Cutscenes are loved by everyone who plays the game. As you progress through the game, you will unlock cute cutscenes. These can be unlocked by completing quests or increasing your friendship level. For some of them you have to be in the right place at the right time.
There was recently a big 1.6 update
The game also just received a big update. Currently, it is only on PC. But the developer said they are working on getting the update out to other consoles.
The new update includes new items, quests, cut scenes, and so much more.
Where to get Stardew Valley.
There are multiple places to get the game.
PC players can get the game on Steam.
For Switches, check the Nintendo store.
PC players get lots of benefits.
Besides the first ones to get the updates, you can also get mods.
I know nothing about mods since I do not play PC. But I have seen players and characters and quests. Or simply mod to make their town a certain aesthetic.
Stardew Valley is a great cozy game
This is one of my favorite games. Honestly, I can play it for hours and never get bored. If you are looking to get into cozy gaming, this is a fun and affordable option.
