*This blog post is all about Lake Haiyaha *
One of my favorite parts about living in Colorado is the endless hikes. My Instagram has been filled with so many places to visit that I have a separate saved folder for them all.
Lake Haiyaha was on my bucket list of places to visit. A couple of years ago this lake was all over social media for its beautiful teal color. This color was caused by a landslide and only lasted for the season.
I really wanted to visit the lake to see this beautiful color. I had the opportunity, but sadly I fell on the way up and was too sore to continue. While I got to see the other beautiful lakes, I missed out on the pretty color.
Even though I missed the pretty teal, I was still able to visit the lake a year later. And the views are stunning!
Here is everything you need to know about Lake Haiyaha
Where it is located
Lake Haiyaha is located inside Rocky Mountain National Park. You will need an entrance pass to enter the park which is offered in 1-day, 7-day, or annual pass types. If going between May to October, you will also need a timed entry permit to enter the park.
There are two types of timed entry permits depending on where you are going in the park. To get access to the trailhead for Lake Haiyaha, you will need to the Timed Entry+ permit to get entry to Bear Lake Road.
Parking at the trailhead may be limited, so plan on parking farther away or consider taking one of the shuttles. Shuttles may also require a reservation and additional fees.
Hiking up to Lake Haiyaha
According to All trails, the hike to Lake Haiyaha is a moderate, 4-mile hike. This hike will take you a little over 2 hours to do, but the views are worth it.
This is a popular hike so the trail can get crowded quickly.
Be prepared to climb up rocks! There are multiple spots during the hike that require rock climbing. This means there is little to no path. Once you get to the lake, you will have to climb over a boulder field to get to the water.
Other hikes along the way
On the way up, you will pass several other beautiful hiking spots.
Be sure to check out Emerald Lake, Bear Lake, and Dream Lake. All of these are either along the trail or a short hike to an off-trail. But you will pass the trailhead to each, so I suggest checking it out!
Enjoy the stunning views of Lake Haiyaha
The end views were worth the challenging hike. This is a hike I am looking forward to going on again. If you have the chance, I highly recommend this hike for the beautiful views and pretty water.
