Sometimes I just don’t feel like cooking. Especially during weeknights when I don’t get home from work until almost 7 pm. It is common for me to not eat dinner until after 8 pm. Which is why I am always looking for a quick and easy dinner recipe.
Because of this, salmon is a staple in my house. It is an easy protein and takes about 15 minutes to make. There are so many ways to flavor it that it is hard to get bored of. It also pairs great with my favorite roasted brussel sprouts.
Here is how to make lemon garlic salmon
Ingredients
What I love the most about this recipe is how few ingredients it needs. Most of these are already kitchen staples you probably have.
Salmon – you can choose between fresh or frozen salmon. I grew up in a household that didn’t like fish, so eating it is something new to me. With that being said, I don’t know much about fresh salmon. Because I eat so much salmon now, it is cheaper to get frozen salmon pieces. My favorite is Kroger brand salmon and you can usually find it on sale for around $10 for a 2lb bag.
Olive oil – you can use any oil you want, but I use olive oil because of its health benefits. It also gives a nice flavor to the salmon as it cooks.
Butter – this is the staple for your ‘sauce.’ I use about 4 tablespoons of melted butter to pour over the salmon once it is cooked.
Lemons – fresh lemons are the best for this as they have more flavor and juice. Depending on how lemony I want my salmon I use about half to a whole medium lemon.
Garlic cloves – fresh garlic is also best for this recipe. Use 3 to 4 cloves crushed to go into your sauce. Or you can use more if you really love garlic
Salt & pepper – the classics to season your salmon
Making the salmon and sauce
The recipe is simple, which is what I love! It should take you only 15 minutes. And a bonus, you barley use any dishes.
- Pour some oil into a stovetop pan. Then sprinkle salt and pepper onto the salmon and cook. Cook for about 15 minutes or until the internal temp reaches 145 degrees.
- While the salmon is cooking, melt 4 tablespoons of butter in the microwave. Once melted, squeeze your lemon juice into the bowl. Finally, add crushed garlic to the mixture and stir.
- Pour mixture over the cooked salmon and enjoy!

This recipe is great for nights when you don’t want to cook. It pairs great with rice, or if you have more time, mashed potatoes. It is always a go to in my house.
Lemon & Garlic Salmon
Ingredients
- 2 Pieces Salmon
- 4 Tbps Butter
- 3-4 Cloves Garlic
- Half Lemon
Instructions
- Start by covering the bottom of your pan with olive oil, or oil of choice. Place your salmon in the pan and cook until the internal temp reaches 145 degrees. Usually about 10-15 minutes. Optional, add salt and pepper to taste.
- While salmon is cooking, melt 4 tbsp of butter in the microwave
- Squeeze half a lemon into the melted butter. Then add 1-2 garlic cloves. Mix to combine.
- Once the salmon is done, top with lemon and garlic mixture.
